Progress Status:

| Investment proposal. Feasibility study «Electrification of the sections Gomel-Zhlobin-Osipovichi and Zhlobin - Kalinkovichi. 1-st Stage Section Gomel-Zhlobin-Osipovichi» is prepared. The prospecting, geology, diagnosing of track formation, traction and electric calculation, placing of traction substations are fulfilled. The sites are choosed and the ground for control station of catenary and traction substation is allotted. The laboratory works for approach lines of 110 kV overhead conductor are fulfilled. In accordance with them the documents for allot of the ground are prepared. All necessary data are collected.

Project Description:

| The electrification of section Osipovichi–Zhlobin, length 106 km (perspective till Gomel – 86 km) is the important stage in the frame of the creation of united space of the functioning of electrified transport net and the conditions of effective operation of electric locomotives in freight and passenger traffic
The electrification of the section Osipovichi-Zhlobin-Gomel and subsequent transfer to electric traction of the movement of freight, passenger and suburban trains will allow to achive the following goals:
- to fulfill the conditions of agreed unified police of OSJD countries on the technical equipment of international transport Corridors crossing the Republic of Belaru;
- to revive the enterprises of electrotechnical industry of the republic;
- to solve the ecological problems on the section of the electrification.

| In 2004 Belarusian Railway in the frame of the project of electrification of the sections included into Pan-European transport Corridor № IХВ transferred the freight traffic on the section Osipovichi- Molodechno with the electrification of the roundabout way Pomyslishche–Kryzhovka of Minsk railway junction to the electric traction.
Besides in order to organize the through freight traffic on the sections Osipovichi-Minsk-Molodechno and Orsha-Minsk-Molodechno the works on the electrification of Molodechno and Osipovici stations and secondary lines of the intermediate stations of the section Osipovichi-Molodechno were fulfilled.
Nowadays The building and assembling jobs named «Increasing of capacity of freight trains of electric traction on the section Osipovichi-Molodechno. 1-st stage» are implementing.
The realization of the project on the electrification of sections of Belarusian Railway will allow
- to transfer freight, passenger and suburban traffic to the electric traction that will permit to reduce costs of transport, to increase the weight limits of trains, and the speed of traffic;
- to reduce the consumption of diesel fuel, to improve the ecology situation of the adjacent territorry, to reduce the ecology taxes; - to broaden the technological opportunity and to use effectively the repairing capacity of the electric locomotive depots of Railway, to organize the production of components and equipment for the electric locomotives repairing by the enterprises of electro-technical industry of the Republic;
- to implement the conditions of agreed unified police of OSJD countries on the technical equipment of international transport Corridors.
The substitution of diesel traction into electric one is the economically beneficial project from the point of view of the investments into the technical modernization of the railway transport of the Republic of Belarus.
